Based in New York, Barnard Business & Professional Women (BBPW) began in the mid-1970s, when five like-minded Barnard College alumnae came up with the idea of establishing a women's counterpart to the old-boys' network.
BBPW’s mission is to educate, inform, provide networking opportunities for members with each other, industry leaders and career coaches; and provide tools to facilitate career planning and professional development.
BBPW’s events include The Distinguished Speakers Series which presents top professionals from a variety of fields and industries, and The BBPW University Series which focuses on skills training and professional development workshops.
All BBPW events include a networking session to enable members to meet, interface, exchange ideas and make connections with each other and the presenters.
BBPW is a 501(c)(7) not-for-profit organization associated with Barnard College.
